Recent Science Competition Results:


TEAMS Engineering Competition

On March 5th, 2019, Wyoming Area Physics students competed in the regional TEAMS engineering competition at the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Campus. TEAMS stands for Test of Engineering Aptitude in Mathematics and Science. 14 teams from 9 different schools competed.

Wyoming Area Team A placed 2nd overall in the region. Team members included:

Michael Abromovage, Jacob Butwin, Josh Cheetham, William Fauntleroy, Bayli Grossi, Jeremy Harman, Aleah Kranson, and Michael Remley.

Wyoming Area Team B placed 3rd in the region. Team members included:

Nate Cable, Luke Coolbaugh, Josh Cumbo, Michael DeSanto, Ellie Glatz, Jordan Grossi, Tierney Porfirio, and Ian Williams.

Students were awarded with a plaque and the results of their work will be forwarded to the state level for additional scoring.

Northeast Science Olympiad Tournament 

On March 6th, 2019, Wyoming Area competed at the Northeast Science Olympiad Tournament. Our high school team placed 5th in the region overall out of 28 participating schools and will be advancing to the State Tournament at Juniata College on Saturday April 27th again this year.

Team members included:

Michael Abromovage, Jacob Butwin, William Fauntleroy, Bayli Grossi, Jeremy Harman, Michael Remley, Nate Cable, Luke Coolbaugh, Michael DeSanto, Ellie Glatz, Marissa Kovaleski, Cara Yorina, Gabbie Delicati, Carli Tabone, and Grace Washney.

Individual Medalists included:

Gold Medal : Wright Stuff : Cara Yorina and Gabby Delicati

Gold Medal : Forensics : Bayli Grossi and Luke Coolbaugh

Silver Medal : Astronomy : Jeremy Harman and Grace Washney

Silver Medal : Geologic Mapping : Jeremy Harmon and Mike DeSanto

4th Place Medal : Sounds of Music : Jacob Butwin and Ellie Glatz

4th Place Medal : Protein Modeling : Nate Cable, Mike Desanto, and Mike Remley
